Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Alma Martinez

My name is Alma Martinez and I am the Spanish teacher at Russellville High School.  I teach Spanish I and II and this year I will be teaching AP Spanish.  I have been teaching in Russellville High School for ten years now, but I have been a teacher for 20 years and this will be my 18 year teaching.  I am a Russellville High School graduate and I'm happy to be teaching here.

I came to the United States when I was eleven years old, and I couldn't speak any English, so I know that speaking a foreign language is not easy, so I always like to encourage my students to learn the Spanish language or any other language, because anything is possible. I was able to learn English myself and I'm a true believer that everyone is capable of learning any foreign language.

I went to Northwest Shoals Community College and obtained my Associate's Degree in 2001.  Once I graduated, I went to the University of Alabama for two semesters and then transferred to the University of North Alabama where I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in education in 2004.

I am married to Sergio Martinez and we have six beautiful children. Three of our own (Lupita (8),  Marifer (6)  and Anna Patricia (2)); one that is mine (Julian Ambrosio (20)), and the other two that joined our lives because God wanted it to happen (Esthela(24) and Yariela(18)).  Esthela graduated back in 2019 and is in the U.S Navy; Julian graduated back in 2021, Yariela is a Senior at RHS, Lupita is in 3rd grade at RES, and Marifer is in 1st grade at WES.

I am Forever Golden!
