The goal of the Russellville City Schools Department of Curriculum and Instruction is to advance the knowledge and the practice of teaching and learning. RCS addresses the educational needs of a rapidly changing global society by offering a diverse curriculum that includes core curriculum, Advancement Placement courses, and a plethora of electives for our students to choose from.   

Russellville City Schools teachers follow the Alabama Courses of Study for the course they are teaching. 

The RCS Curriculum and Instruction Department is responsible for following the Alabama State Department of Education's student learning expectations (standards) for what all students should know and be able to do as a result of skilled instruction. RCS is proud to partner with the Alabama Reading Initiative (ARI), Alabama Math, Science, and Technology Initiative (AMSTI), Alabama Technology in Motion, ACCESS Distance Learning, A+College Ready, Alabama Best Practices Center, Imagine Learning, IXL, and many more.
